Susan L. Roth earned her bachelor’s degree in art and master’s degree in printmaking and art history from Mills College in Oakland, California. She has has written or illustrated more than forty books, and her most recent books - The Mangrove Tree: Planting Trees to Feed Families and Dream Something Big: The Story of the Watts Towers – are both 2012 ALA Notable Children’s Books. Susan and her husband now live in New York City and have three children and two grandchildren.
